Some more Food for thought
I’m going to continue on here with some more stuff about the thought processes behind writing beats, brain food stuff if you will. Don’t you worry yourself too much as I’ll get on with some more of the geeky stuff soon enough and let me tell you there is plenty of more stuff to come. The one like Axiom (Switzerland) is visiting little old Syndey town to smash up the dance and yes, there has been a little studio action! So hold on to your horses people, there is good times ahead!

The Organization
I’m all for being organized. Hell I spent a greater portion of my early production hours moving files from one location to another. Renaming files and putting them into new folders seemed to be the order of the day. Who could find time to write tunes yeah? If you hear it, it will come…
I was speaking to a producer friend of mine today and we were discussing our personal workflows. Its a very interesting subject to me because although you don’t quite want to systemize your beat making (we’re NOT robots yet!) you don’t want to spend 3 years writing a tune! I’m not afraid to say that its been around 6 or so years since i’ve been getting down with crazy “Jungle Beats” of London. Whilst I’ve enjoyed every moment of my time producing the most highest of music forms out there, the fruits of my DnB labour are quite bare! I’ve only written a handful of tunes in 6 years! I mean, sure I like Uber -Techy/Geekiness of making beats and the endless chats with friends about the latest VST Plugins and compression methods but “Making Tunes” is ultimately what its all about! Oh dear, something was surely amiss! Read the rest of this entry

Hi, every now and again i’m going to have a guest writer come in and let you know whats going down in his world. Today i’ve got the one like BOOT giving some critical insight into some of the processes he goes through when writing tunes. If you haven’t checked out his tunes yet check them out here, I think you will agree that they are top notch wether he is writing Drum n Bass or Dubstep. Enjoy! – Dauntless
